CASH BOOST FOR SEAHOUSES FIRST RESPONDERS

Two Bamburgh Residents, Anne Wilde and Jean Sinton, decided that they would like to raise a couple of hundred pounds for the Seahouses Ambulance First Responder Group, after hearing about their work at a talk given by Group Co-ordinator Ian Clayton, at Bamburgh Pavilion. On BH Monday 28th May, 2007, a coffee morning was held at the Pavilion, which occupies a splendid setting on the grounds of Bamburgh Castle. The event was very well supported indeed, with Responders Ian Clayton, Pauline Adams and Paul Bolton on hand to answer questions from those attending. At the close of the event, a staggering £1041 had been raised, and hopefully four potential new recruits had also expressed an interest to join the Group. The Group are eager to recruit new members who are available Monday to Friday, during the day. Weekend and evening cover is reasonably well staffed at present.

Group Co-ordinator Ian Clayton added " We are stunned and humbled by the success of this event, and never dreamed that such an amount could be raised. It is a tremendous tribute to the hardwork of local residents Anne Wilde and Jean Sinton, that they have been able to present us with such a generous donation. Although we are an emergency resource of the North East Ambulance Service, all of our equipment has to be purchased and maintained by the Group. We rely totally on public donations and fundraising to provide the service, and our equipment is expensive. So a big thank you to everyone who helped make this event happen."

GOLFING CASH BOOST FOR SEAHOUSES AMBULANCE FIRST RESPONDERS

On Sunday 17th December, 2006, Seahouses Golf Club staged a charity presentation, following the 9th Annual Charity Golf Competition staged by Printers Coast, of Tyneside.

Ian Clayton who accepted the cheque, added "Seahouses First Ambulance First Responders have answered 94 calls to date this year, our last incident took place only yesterday. The cost of supplying and maintaining our equipment is considerable, and without the superb community support and donations such as this, the Group could not function. Please accept our sincere thanks. I am sure the communities in and around Seahouses, Bamburgh and Beadnell would echo those sentiments."

Seahouses Festive Lights, the Great North Air Ambulance, and the Seahouses Golf Club Development Fund also benefited from the superb generosity of Printers Coast.

FPOS enhanced Trained Responders can be deployed to a wider range of emergencies, including Medical and Trauma Life Threatening situations. They can also be deployed to incidents involving children. All responders are security vetted as a matter of course. This also means that some additional equipment is now carried, including equipment to treat children, and entonox (pain killing gas).

SEAHOUSES RESPONDERS RECEIVE CASH BOOST FROM LADY GOLFERS.

The outgoing Chair of the Seahouses Ladies' Golf Section, Mrs Pauline Castle, donated two cheques, raised by the golfers, totalling £489.38 to the Seahouses Ambulance First Responders. Mrs Castle said, "I thought it would be nice for a local charity to benefit from this money, and I have seen the responders in action when my neighbour was ill. I hope it will help to make a difference."
The attached photos show Seahouses First Responder Ian Clayton, the Group's administrator, and link with the North East Ambulance Service, accepting the cheque. The North East Ambulance Service train and control the First Responder Team. Fellow responder Paul Bolton was also present, seen with a group from the ladies golf section.
Responder Ian Clayton added "We are delighted to benefit from the generosity of these ladies, and the money will be used to purchase Entonox equipment, the analgesic gas which relieves pain. We have had a number of calls recently where this could have helped a patient till the arrival of the ambulance crew. Several of our Team are already trained to use Entonox (known to some as gas and air) and the majority of the other team members should be trained within a few weeks. So far this year we have been called to 76 emergencies in and around Seahouses, Bamburgh and Beadnell, compared with 35 during 2005. The scheme is working well, but we are always on the look out for new recruits, and we seem to be getting busier and busier".
