CPR - What is it ?
Answer - Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation ! Otherwise known as artificial respiration

Our normal procedure when assessing a patient is to
 - Check A-B-C.
A = Airway. B = Breathing. C = Circulation.

Before doing anything we must first consider safety, of ourselves, the patient and others present. Be aware of dangers, - electricity, gas, chemicals, dangerous location etc. We are no use to the patient if we are disabled or injured by the same thing which caused their situation.

We are trained to administer Oxygen, and Chest Compressions (where the pulse is absent), and to use the AED (Automatic Electronic Heart Defibrillator). If the patient is unconscious, consideration may be given to insert an airway (OPA - Oropharangeal Airway) to prevent the patient's tongue from falling to the back of the throat and blocking their airway.
